A high school diploma and seven and one-half (7.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License within six (6) months of placement in the position.However, applicants without a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License are available.

Job Description:

Supervises a maintenance crew in the reclamation/maintenance of existing state maintained roads including the scheduling and coordination of work, material delivery and equipment.Supervises various maintenance tasks (including ditch work, slope mowing, limb trimming, and patching) in Greenwood County during the winter months or when reclamation activities have ceased due to breakdowns, or weather. Performs field inspections on all phases of work being performed by district crew including; grading and shaping, analyzing sub-grade, compaction of base materials needed for road projects. Figures the amount of materials needed for maintenance reclamation projects. Inspects materials for quality assurance. Supervises and ensures a safe work zone for district and assisting county crews, as in flagging operations,wearing of safety equipment, vehicle safety, or when working with hazardous material and waste. Acts as substitute stabilizer/recycler or motorgrader operator as necessary with maintenance reclamation operations. Reviews and/or maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports, timesheets and cost records; recommends personnel actions including promotions and disciplinary actions. Rates employees yearly according to Employee Performance Management System. Supervises and performs the preventative maintenance of equipment to ensure routine maintenance as outlined in equipment specifications. Performs other job related duties, including on call for after hour emergencies and snow removal operations.
