PawMed is a start-up veterinary hospital in Charleston, SC working to shake up the veterinary world. We are pioneering a new model of veterinary care and think that our model can offer convenience and world class care, often at a fraction of the price.

We’re looking for a smart, entrepreneurial veterinary technicians and assistants to spearhead the nursing team at PawMed. Must love dogs (and cats).

This role will be responsible for the development and execution of all facets of the company's medical programs in conjunction with the doctors and management team. This will include but not be limited to pet handling, routine and advanced diagnostics, outpatient therapy, pharmacy, client and primary care veterinarian communications, cleaning and facilities maintenance, and brand management. This (all positions in the company) will include front desk responsibilities including check-in, phones, and financial transactions.

The ideal candidate will posses credentials or be working to obtain RVT/CVT/LVT credentials and have experience in veterinary medicine. While experience and credentials are preferred these are not a requirement.

Specific Responsibilities Include

-Work with doctors and management to develop and implement medical and operation standards and procedures.
-Clear, concise, and intentional communication with doctors, colleagues, and management. 
-Occasional interaction with agencies, vendors, and merchants will be required.
-Focus on excellence in customer service and client communication.
-Prioritizing patient care and diagnostics in a triage based medical system.
-Driven, timely, and organized work flow.
-Patient restraint and handling
-Venipuncture/Phlebotomy
-Knowledge of common diagnostic technology (Idexx, Heska, Abaxsis) and willingness to learn
-Ability to clearly communicate in written medical record - procedures, communications, and treatments.
-Monitoring anesthetized/sedated patients and patient recovery.
-Triage evaluation

-Facilites management

Qualifications

-Strong affinity for dogs and cats - especially puppies and kittens.
-Creative and outside of the box thinking with an entrepreneurial mindset.
-Ability to handle multi-tasking across multiple, varying projects.
-Strong writing and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (intentional, clear).
-Willingness to interact with clients, doctors, management, agencies, merchants, and vendors on a daily basis.

Requirements

-Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (veterinary technology) preferred. [will consider students planning to graduate within 6 months]
1+ years of experience in veterinary medicine or related field preferred [internship experience considered].
-An ability to manage simultaneous projects and responsibilities with a focus on prioritizing and organization
