Luncheon Honors Scholars, Donors

Scholarships were presented to students and donors were recognized at the recent scholarship luncheon.

 

Piedmont Technical College student and Hodges resident Lyndia Belcher (right) was recently awarded the Martha B. Williams Memorial Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Belcher, a human services major, is congratulated by David Rosenbaum, scholarship committee member. Awarded annually to students demonstrating leadership ability, exhibiting character and good life skills, the scholarship is based on academic achievement and financial need.

 

 

 

 

Two Piedmont Technical College recently received the “Lady Bug” Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Alora McLees, a veterinary technology student from Greenville and Sylvia MacFarlane, veterinary technology program coordinator. Not pictured is Amanda Corley, a veterinary technology student from Lexington. Named in memory of Lady Bug, who served as the vet tech mascot, this scholarship is available to a student in the third semester of the veterinary technology program who is an active participant in the Veterinary Technology Club.

 

 

 

 

Piedmont Technical College student and Cross Hill resident Ronald Aderhold (right) was recently presented the Bailey Foundation Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Aderhold, a business student, is congratulated by Robert Link. The scholarship is awarded each year to Laurens County students majoring in business or computer technology, based on academic achievement and financial need.

 

 

 

 

 

Two Piedmont Technical College students were recently awarded the C.Y. Thomason, Sr. Memorial Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Bobby Skelton, a building construction technology student from Chappells; Richard Thomason, scholarship donor and presenter; and Corey Thomas, a BCT student from Bradley. Named for Thomason’s grandfather, C.Y. Thomason, who was a contractor for 50 years, the scholarship is awarded annually to a student in the building construction technology program.

 

 

 

 

Two Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Gwen Hancock Memorial Scholarship at the annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, family member Tara Stoddard; Jessica Magaha, a respiratory care student from Honea Path; family member, the late Gene Hancock; family member Rhett Hancock; and Megan Mitchum, a respiratory care student from Abbeville. Awarded annually to Respiratory Care majors, the scholarship is based on academic achievement, leadership ability and financial need.  Gene Hancock was a graduate of PTC’s first evening program and was the college’s first alumni association president.

 

 

 

Piedmont Technical College respiratory care student Tracy Cornejo Rios of Greenwood recently received the Jeanne Florence Scholarship Award. This scholarship is available to past Educational Talent Search or Upward Bound students or a Student Support Services participant and is based on financial need, academic achievement and recommendation by Student Support Services director and staff.

 

 

 

 

Piedmont Technical College student and Mountville resident Heather Seawright (right) was recently awarded the Lena Wood Warren Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Seawright, an associate degree nursing major, is pictured with Lena Warren, former dean of health science at Piedmont Tech (left). This scholarship is available to a PN or ADN student who has completed at least one semester in the nursing program. The recipient has a 3.0 GPA or above, has an outstanding clinical performance as determined by clinical instructor, shows financial need and demonstrates leadership abilities.

 

 

 

 

Piedmont Technical College student and Greenwood resident Kelly Erickson (left) was recently awarded the Lucille Brooks Memorial Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Erickson, an administrative office technology major, is congratulated by Dr. Ray Brooks, president of Piedmont Tech. This scholarship, established to honor the memory of Lucille Brooks, is available to a single parent showing financial need and academic achievement.

 

 

 

 

Two Piedmont Technical College students were recently awarded the Ngoni Mafemera Memorial Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Deidre Stidom, scholarship committee member; Rebecca Turnburke, a practical nursing student from Greenwood; and Candida Hutchinson, an associate degree nursing student from Greenwood. The scholarship is provided by the 2012 Summer Senior Nursing students and is restricted to a student in the Nursing program who is a rising senior in either the ADN or PN program. The student must be active in community service and demonstrate financial need with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
