Piedmont Technical College and Newberry College sign transfer agreement for business students
A recently signed agreement will simplify the path to a bachelor's degree for business students transferring from Piedmont Technical College (PTC) to Newberry College.
The agreement clarifies transfer requirements for PTC students pursuing a business degree at Newberry College, giving students and their advisors a clearer path to degree completion. It identifies which PTC courses satisfy Newberry College course requirements and outlines the additional coursework students who earn an associate degree at PTC must complete to earn a bachelor’s degree in business at Newberry College.
“We are excited to offer this opportunity for students in our business program,” said PTC Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Karla Gilliam. “Being able to provide a clearer pathway and seamless transfer opportunities is crucial for our students, and this agreement will do just that.”
Newberry College Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Beth Hinga said the agreement “will have great benefits for both institutions.”
“It provides Piedmont Tech students with clarity and a definite path forward and also allows Newberry College to recruit transfer students who have already proven they are academically prepared because of their successful completion of a Piedmont Tech degree,” Hinga said.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony at Newberry College on Monday. It will take effect in the spring 2027 semester.
The agreement is the third between PTC and Newberry College in the past three years. Previous agreements established transfer pathways for students in graphic design and education.
