Piedmont Technical College celebrates 3 chosen for Educator of the Year Awards

Three outstanding team members from Piedmont Technical College (PTC) were honored recently at the South Carolina Technical Education Association (SCTEA) annual conference in Myrtle Beach.

Nursing Department Head Holly Davis, Admissions and Enrollment Services Dean Tameika Wideman and Arts and Sciences Division administrative assistant Natalie Wynn were recognized along with colleagues from other technical colleges across the state as recipients of SCTEA’s Educator of the Year Awards.

Davis started at PTC in 2018 as a nursing faculty member. She became the program’s department head in 2022. She received a practical nursing diploma from PTC in 2002 and an associate degree in nursing in 2012. Davis earned a master’s degree at Walden University in 2017 and is currently pursuing a doctorate in nursing practice at Arkansas State University.

“I am passionate about PTC and its nursing programs, having graduated from them myself,” said Davis, who is married with two daughters. “I wholeheartedly want PTC’s nursing programs to exude the ‘premier technical college’ tag as our institutional vision states.”

“I feel like I can always grow as a leader, but one of the reasons I believe I’m receiving this award is the willingness to roll up my sleeves and assist my team in whatever way possible to ensure student success,” she said. “I love teaching, I love my team and I love transforming lives at PTC.”

Wideman has been at PTC since 2015. She served as associate registrar, registrar and director of dual enrollment before taking on the role of dean of admissions and enrollment services in November 2023.

She has two bachelor's degrees from the College of Charleston and a master’s degree in organizational management from Charleston Southern University. Prior to her career at PTC, Wideman worked for 7 1/2 years in banking and advertising and for two years at Erskine College.

Wideman previously received the PTC Staff Excellence Award in 2018-19 and the SCTEA Staff Member of the Year honor in 2019-2020. She is a 2023-24 graduate of the South Carolina Technical College System (SCTCS) Leadership Academy.

“I've enjoyed creating authentic partnerships with colleagues at PTC and through the SCTCS,” said Wideman, who is married with two daughters.

Wynn has worked at PTC for nearly five years.

She earned her associate degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from PTC in 2018. Wynn also has a bachelor's degree from Liberty University.

“I am sincerely honored and grateful to have been selected as the SCTEA Educator of the Year Staff Award,” said Wynn, who is married with four children and five grandchildren.
