Piedmont Technical College honors 33 distinguished students

Thirty-three students at Piedmont Technical College (PTC) were honored Wednesday at the 51st annual Student Awards and Recognition Program.

The top honor – the President’s Award – went to Amber Hardin. She also received the distinguished student honors for the Engineering and Industrial Technology Division and the Horticulture Program.

“Amber is extremely outgoing, very passionate about everything that she's doing,” said Daniel Greenwell, department head for Horticulture and Agriculture. “Everything she does she puts her whole heart into it. She has been extremely engaged within the whole college community.”

Greenwell said he was impressed with how Hardin successfully juggled her academic endeavors with motherhood.

“It's a miracle and amazing to me that she's been able to balance both those things and to continue on with her success and her growth professionally and personally.”

Hardin will continue her studies by pursuing a bachelor's degree at the University of Mount Olive.
