  • Must be able to demonstrate courtesy, maturity, and positivity in interaction with others;
  • Must be able to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive issues;
  • Must be comfortable assisting people who are experiencing crisis, grief, or other difficult situations;
  • Must be able to safeguard the confidential information encountered regularly at work;
  • Must be well-organized and punctual, have a keen eye for detail, and must be skilled at multi-tasking;
  • Must respond well to direction and deadlines, and must be flexible and adaptive with respect to assignments;
  • Must be a self-starter who can anticipate needs and initiate tasks and projects without direct instruction;
  • Must be comfortable initiating phone calls and other contacts with church members and non-members;
  • Must be a skilled verbal and written/digital communicator;
  • Must be adept at the use of office and communications technology;
  • Must be able to manage the church website and must be able to learn and to manage church database software, publishing/graphics software, and social media platforms;
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not necessary; 
  • Administrative / secretarial experience is preferred, but not necessary; 
  • An affinity for serving in an explicitly Christian environment is helpful;
Job Description:

Under the direction of the senior pastor, the Administrative Assistant will implement administrative/clerical procedures and perform duties in support of the overall mission of the church and its specific ministries (particularly with respect to the functioning of the church office), and will provide communications and administrative support for the senior pastor, the church staff, and church leadership teams.  

General Areas of Responsibility:

  • To serve in support of the senior pastor in his role as administrator of ministries, programming, staff, and facilities;
  • To serve in support of the senior pastor in his role as provider of pastoral care to the church and community;
  • To serve in clerical and communications support of the associate pastors and ministry staff as assigned;
  • To serve in clerical and communications support of committees, teams, and the deacon fellowship as assigned;
  • To maintain and provide for the efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the church office;
  • To handle various daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and other periodic administrative and clerical tasks;
  • To create and publish print and digital communications on behalf of the church and its ministries;
  • To update, manage, and preserve church records and databases;
  • To maintain, manage and coordinate churchwide and ministry program scheduling / calendaring;
  • To supervise / coordinate regular or occasional volunteers recruited for receptionist and other light clerical duties;
  • To handle other duties as assigned by the senior pastor;

32 hours per week
