Job Description:

Trains to assist permit office with inspection of work performed on state roads to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to SCDOT specifications and standards. Trains to perform field inspection of maintenance contracts on state roads in Anderson County to include but not limited to resurfacing, mowing, guardrail, paint, sweeping, and pavement markings. Trains in measuring for quantities of grassing, concrete, and asphalt. Performs basic calculations on areas, earthwork quantities, and length of pavement markings. Trains to perform construction inspection, under general supervision, on thermoplastic, raised pavement marker, guardrail and other projects. Ensures pavement markings are placed as indicated on the project plans and in accordance with temperature restrictions. Trains to assist engineering staff in maintaining lists of roads in need of repair by contract or maintenance forces. Employee is required to note deficient roads while driving throughout the county and submits information to engineering staff for review. Removes illegal signs from right of way per EDM #29. Trains to assist engineering staff in compiling and updating county wide features inventory. Performs other duties in the maintenance of accurate data in HMMS. Required to work on 24 hour alert during emergency situations and will perform duties as needed to include but not limited to answering telephones and operating state band radio. Employee shall also be available to transport office staff to and from work during inclement weather as needed. Performs other job duties as requested to assigned by supervisor.
