Clemson University is hiring for an LPN to serve as a Clinical Support Specialist that will support general care processes for providers at various Clemson Rural Health facilities.
60% - Essential - Patient Care Coordination:
Accurately documents patient intake, including vital signs, medical and social history, symptoms/complaints and nursing assessment. Utilizes standing orders, triage protocols, and algorithms appropriately. Monitors patient flow in clinic, ensuring timely receipt of services. Administers certain medications, injections, immunizations and family planning options as ordered by provider. Manages prescription refills per protocol. Coordinates biomedical waste disposal. Monitors compliance with all legal and regulatory standards, including but not limited to: OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA. Other duties as assigned.
20% - Essential - Specimen Collection and Handling:
Identify patient and verify demographics, including insurance information; complete lab orders, requisition and specimen labeling, ensuring accuracy of CPT codes as related to diagnosis codes; collect and process specimens by appropriate procedure for analysis with accurate documentation; ensure patient safety and specimen integrity by employing aseptic techniques; practice infection control standards at all times; coordinate specimen tracking by courier to reference laboratory and results upload to electronic medical record. Other duties as assigned.
20% - Essential - Inventory Supply Management:
Inventory, order and stock all medical supplies; Perform weekly reconciliation of in house medications and vaccinations, report any discrepancies; Order and transport in house medications and vaccinations from Redfern Pharmacy. Clean and sterilize instruments. Perform daily instrument check offs, quality controls and routine maintenance on laboratory equipment per CLIA regulations. Other duties as assigned.
