A bachelor's degree in engineering and four and one-half (4.5) years of journey-level engineering
 work experience; or a bachelor's degree in engineering technology and six and one-half (6.5)
 years of journey-level engineering work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in
 accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
 A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Plans, coordinates and schedules all necessary maintenance activities of all roadways, bridges,
 and rights-of-way in Edgefield county within the state system. Supervises all maintenance crews
 in work assignments to ensure that all activities are performed in accordance to Department
 policies and standards. Performs inspections of roadways, bridges and rights-of-way to ensure
 that they are maintained in a safe condition for the traveling public. Performs various office
 related duties such as preparing maintenance reports, correspondence, and handling personnel
 matters. Interviews new hires, reviews encroachment permits and requisitions. Investigates
 maintenance requests and complaints received from the general public and public officials and
 ensures that corrective action is taken. Reviews and approves purchase orders, requisitions,
 weekly and monthly reports. Coordinates with local County Transportation Committees on C-Fund
 projects. Conducts various meetings such as safety, training, and personnel meetings. Performs
 other related job duties as assigned by supervisor. Maintains county herbicide inventory and
 manages county herbicide program. Prepares yearly line item budget for maintenance and shop
 operations for county unit and ensures that unit stays within budget limits.
