Requirements:

CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work directly with engineering to produce the best part in the most efficient fashion
  • Ability to work from written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to proficiently and safely operate all equipment commonly available in tool room
  • Proficient in bench work including: drilling, tapping, assembly, and inspection of components for form, fit, and function
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in basic computer systems
  • High self motivation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fabrication/Sheet metal experience
  • Welding experience
  • Machining experience

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Enrollment in Technical certificates or Associate's program related to the position at Augusta Tech or Aiken Tech

Job Description:

POSITION DETAILS

This position is part of Product Development and Engineering (PD&E) and reports to the Model Shop Supervisor. The main role of this position is to work hand-in-hand with designers and engineers to create or modify prototype parts and fixtures to support all product development activities.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • ·   Ability to read blueprints
  • ·   Set-up and perform all machining operations required to produce the part
  • ·   Inspect the final product to ensure it falls within specification
  • ·   Machine components or prototypes within specified tolerance requirements
  • ·   Design and construct fixtures as required
  • ·   Perform bench work with hand tools as necessary
  • ·   Maintain equipment to manufacturer’s specifications or accepted professional standards

 

Schedule:
First Shift, 40 hours a week for the summer as the default, but we are open to students working and going to class at the same time during the semester (or even during the summer, if they are currently enrolled in classes). It really depends on the school and the students’ schedules.
