State Minimum Requirements: An associate degree in electronics and related experience.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application may upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application. Please note that the agency will require an official, certified copy of the transcript or diploma prior to hiring.

 

Additional Requirements: Will be required to lift and/or move heavy equipment up to 50 lbs. Able to climb and work on a ladder. Workplace contains high voltage electronic equipment and large electric motors and electrical equipment. Must be generally available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Must be able to respond to emergency calls within a short time period. Required to carry cell phone and use laptop computer. Job requires statewide travel. Position is assigned to the primary transmitter sites in Greenville, Union, Greenwood, Spartanburg, Newberry, Anderson, Oconee, York, Chester, Abbeville and Laurens Counties. Occasional travel to other South Carolina counties to assist with projects. FCC General Amateur Radio License required within 6 months of hire. Must possess a Valid SC Driver License.

Preferred Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of very high and ultra-high frequency digital, high power television transmitters, digital video and audio signals and circuits. Considerable knowledge of digital and analog very high frequency, high power FM radio and (NOAA) weather transmitters, analog and digital audio signals and circuits. Comprehensive knowledge of computer and network experience. A working knowledge of FCC rules and regulations related to TV and FM Broadcasting.  Working knowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, blowers, etc.  Ability to perform administrative duties and prepare reports and records.  Ability to perform job with limited supervision.

Job Purpose

Supervises the operation of multiple digital broadcast transmitter installations.

 

Job Duties
Performs routine and emergency maintenance on very complex high power broadcast transmitters. Performs routine and emergency maintenance on very complex video and audio processing, monitoring, remote control, and associated equipment. Prepares monthly ETV Transmitter Reports. Checks broadcast signals and operation for compliance with FCC and FAA rules and regulations. Keeps required records and files for compliance with FCC. and FAA rules and regulations. Orders parts, supplies, and tools as required for transmitters, associated equipment and building. Maintains building and grounds. Performs general inspection of transmitting tower, guy lines, and guy anchors. Performs other related tasks as assigned by Manager, Transmitter Operations, and V.P. Engineering.
