A valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License.  (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License within six (6) months of placement in the position.  However, applicants without a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License are available.

Job Description:

Operates 5 yard standard dump truck and flatbed truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction materials, and debris. Performs manual labor in a variety of activities associated with the construction, repair, and preservation of state highway roads and bridges. Assists with placement of traffic control devices to properly set up maintenance work zones. Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones. Removes litter, debris, and dead animals from roadway and rights-of-way. Operates and maintains power tools, and hand tools to perform a variety of highway and bridge maintenance activities. Operates small equipment such as brine sprayer, tractor with broom, and tractor with mower in conjunction with highway and bridge maintenance operations, and standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader or brine sprayer applicator for removal of snow and ice from highways and bridges. Conducts and documents pre-trip equipment/ vehicle inspection in accordance with the Department's most current rules, policies and procedures for fleet safety. Assists in emergency or inclement weather operations; may include being available for extended hours or 12-hour shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned.
