A 10th grade education; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License.
(NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Operates and maintains a tandem or 5 yard dump truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, light weight aggregate, cement, pipe, construction materials and debris. Trains to operate front end loader to clean out drainage ditches and to install sideline and cross line pipe, for clearing fallen trees and debris from roadway during various maintenance operations. Performs manual labor in building catch basins, pouring concrete for curbs and raised medians, laying pipes for driveways and removal of litter and debris, clearing right-of-ways, repairing bridges, patching potholes, base surface failure on roadways, assists with paving and chip seal operation. Sets up traffic control according to MUTCD Standards to warn motorists of roadwork ahead, and assists with on call for after hour emergencies. Operates various pieces of equipment in snow and ice removal as necessary. Trains to operate a motor street sweeper, sweeping and cleaning state roadways, including curb and gutters. Operates and maintains hand/power, electrical and gas powered tools such as shovel, pick, rake, asphalt lute to level asphalt as needed, chain saw to cut trees, pruner, and weed eaters. Performs other job related duties as assigned by supervisor.
