A 10th grade education and one and one-half (1.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Trains in the operation of specialized equipment such as rotary mowers, slope mowers and tractor mounted boom mowers in maintaining of highway, mowing medians and shoulders, and limbing along roadways. Performs semi-skilled to skilled trades duties in the performance of repairs and maintenance of State maintained roads and bridges in Laurens County. Operates standard dump truck for hauling materials to the job site. Operates hand and power tools. Uses a chainsaw in removal of trees and tree limbs from right-of-way. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment. Works during inclement weather, operating truck mounted plows sand spreaders in snow and ice removal as necessary. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.
