Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in criminal justice or a related field + 2 yrs work in law enforcement to include 1 yr in a supervisory capacity; or Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related field + 4 yrs work experience in law enforcement, to include 2 yrs in a supervisory capacity; or Associate's degree + 6 yrs work experience in law enforcement to include 3 yrs in a supervisory capacity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in criminal justice or a related field and 4 yrs work experience in law enforcement, to include 3 yrs of supervisory experience; or a bachelor's degree and 6 yrs work experience in law enforcement, to include 3 yrs in a supervisory capacity; certification from an accredited criminal justice academy; strong communication skills, both oral and written. Knowledge of current law enforcement practices, techniques, and procedures. Two years experience in a college setting. Ability to manage personnel and budgets in an effective manner.

Job Description:

In this challenging role, you will support the Public Safety department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:

-Serves as Chief of Police for Greenville Technical College.

-Plans, directs, and coordinates law enforcement activities, security, loss prevention, and fire safety for all campuses and facilities, student housing, and associated Charter High Schools of Greenville Technical College Charter High School.

-Supervises public safety personnel, evaluate job performance, and ensure that adequate personnel are on duty 24 hours, 7 days per week.

-Prepares and administers departmental budget.

-Conducts investigations of alleged or suspected violations of the law, interview witnesses and suspects, apprehends and arrests persons violating the laws of South Carolina.

-Coordinates and schedules fire drills, safety/security training for all campuses and Student Housing.

-Maintains, schedules repairs, and coordinates monitoring of all burglar, fire, and CCTV systems for all campuses and student housing.

-Coordinates and/or conducts training for law enforcement staff.

-Provides leadership for disaster preparedness and in crisis management situations.

-Other duties as assigned by supervisor or VP of Finance.
