Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in marketing, communications, event management, public relations, or a related field.
- One to two years of experience in event coordination, marketing, or public service. Comfortable using social media platforms, email marketing tools, and basic office software.

It also assists in promoting Newberry Tourism and supporting the operations of the Edward Kyzer Newberry Firehouse Conference Center.
General Position Overview:
The Marketing & Events Coordinator supports the planning, promotion, and execution of City-sponsored events and festivals, assists with the day-to-day operations of the Edward Kyzer Firehouse Conference Center, and contributes to local marketing efforts within the Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department. Under the supervision of the Marketing & Events Manager, this role helps ensure events run smoothly, marketing materials are well-developed and distributed, and the City’s programs and venues are visible and accessible to the community. This role is ideal for an organized and creative individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assists in planning and executing City-sponsored events and festivals, including setup, logistics coordination, vendor communication, and on-site support.
Supports marketing efforts for City programs and community events through social media content, flyers, newsletters, and online calendars.
Helps manage event bookings and customer service for the Edward Kyzer Firehouse Conference Center, including giving tours and responding to inquiries.
Prepares promotional materials using tools such as Canva or other graphic design platforms.
Maintains organized digital and print records for events, marketing content, and vendor contacts.
Attends events and meetings as required, occasionally during evenings or weekends.
Provides general administrative support to the Marketing & Events Manager, including scheduling, communications, and coordination with the City’s marketing consultant.
