South Carolina Electric and Gas Wateree Station located in Eastover, SC seeks a Plant Electrician.  Wateree Station is a regulated coal-fired plant that generates 740 megawatts of electricity.

Responsibilities

The Plant Electrician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment associated with an electric generating station.

Previous experience with 4160 voltage motors, generators, motor controllers, and switchgear and/or distribution systems is required.

Knowledge and experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Variable Frequency Drives is highly desirable.

Duties include but not limited to:

Maintenance and repair of distribution and power related equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, motors and variable frequency drives.

Related activities may also include use of hand tools, operating other equipment such as cranes and forklifts to move equipment, table saws, drill press machines and air powered tools along with the task of bending and installing conduit.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a High School Diplomas or GED from an accredited High School recognized from the Department of Education and a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as an Industrial Electrician.

This position will require working outdoors and during inclement weather, heavy lifting, climbing tall structures at extreme heights, and working in confined spaces.

Must be willing to work various shifts, generally day or evening shift

Candidates must be able to support a 24/7 work schedule (shift work) including holidays and overtime when necessary

Candidate will be subject to working callout overtime situations

Good written and verbal communication skills

Basic understanding of wiring diagrams and control schematics

Ability to use precision measuring tools

Basic understanding of AC and DC electoral theory to include knowledge of electric symbols and formulas

Ability to read wiring diagrams and control schematics

Valid South Carolina Driver’s License is Required

Preferred:

Two-year technical degree from an accredited college or university in Electricity, Electronic Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Construction & Maintenance.

Other Information

Physical requirements for this position include working outdoors and during inclement weather

Standing for prolonged periods of time

Heavy lifting, climbing tall structures, and working in confined spaces.

Incumbents will also be required to occasionally wear a respirator and maintain annual respirator requalification.
