Education:

Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent thereof in education and experience. (6 years)

Experience:

Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment required.

Skills/Competencies:

Pass Workkeys assessments with at least the minimum scores in Math (4), Reading (4),  Locating Information (4), Mechanical Reasoning(45) and Applied Technology (4).

Minimum score of 60 on the Mechanical Standard Timing Model.

Other Skills:

Must be able to speak, read and write the English language

Job Description:

Accountabilities:

  • Must observe all safety precautions and regulations at all times in all areas where duties are performed.  Will be responsible for reporting all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions.  Must utilize the SCORE program and actively participate in safety meetings.
  • Must understand and comply with all current plant policies and procedures.
  • Must maintain work area and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
  • Will layout and perform machining operations of replacement parts using shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses.
  • Will work from verbal and/or written instructions, work orders, manuals, tables, and schematic drawings or sketches.
  • Must troubleshoot, diagnose, disassemble, and repair damaged mechanisms or replace defective parts and reassemble.  Test after reassembling making necessary adjustments for proper operation before turning machine over to production.
  • Will position and align, and level machinery and equipment being installed or relocated to required accuracy and check to ensure effective operation.  Also require rigging knowledge for installation and relocation of equipment modules to include rotary dies and knife units.
  • Will construct, rebuild, or modify equipment under the direction of co-workers, supervisors, or engineering department and assemble new equipment and instruct operators on the operation of equipment where applicable.
  • Will select or specify shafts, sprockets, pulleys, and belts.
  • Must record and process parts removed from the stockroom.
  • Must perform preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis.
  • Will perform miscellaneous duties to include minor piping, and electrical work using proper tools and equipment.
  • Must maintain necessary records to include maintenance logs, time sheets, downtime logs, etc.
  • Must have a basic understanding of welding using oxy-acetylene, arc, and MIG welding.
  • Must be able to read and use precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.
  • Must have a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic-systems with the ability to test, repair, and replace solenoid valves and cylinders
