Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in leisure services, parks, recreation management, or related field supplemented by nine to twelve months of responsible experience in recreation programming; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must obtain certification as deemed appropriate by the City. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license.

Must be physically able to operate a variety of maintenance tools and equipment. Must be physically able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Position involves walking, reaching, bending, crouching, reclining, stooping, and balancing and is excess of sedentary work. Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to one hundred pounds.

Job Description:

Under general supervision, performs administrative work in assisting in the planning and directing of the City's recreation activities. Work involves organizing sports and athletic programs, coordinating public relations activities, planning special events, preparing various reports and documents, and ensuring community needs are met with respect to recreation and parks activities. Reports to the Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Director.
