A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL). (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Computer experience.
Acts as crew leader during the installation of new roadway signs and the replacement of existing signs. Assumes supervisor's duties and responsibilities during their absence. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment.Operates standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD standards to warn motorist of road work ahead. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor including on call after hours for emergencies. Removes litter, debris, and dead
animals from roadway and rights-of-way. This position requires employee to lift heavy objects.Operates tandem ten-wheel dump truck, 5 yard standard dump truck, and flatbed truck for hauling materials including asphalt, limestones, dirt, soil, cement, pipes, construction materials,and debris. Operates chain saw in the removal of trees from rights-of-way. Assists in the placement of pavement markings including stop bars, arrows, crosswalks, and railroad crossings or thermoplastic according to state specifications.
