Supervises a maintenance crew patching base and surface failures. Supervises and inspectswork including ditching, machining shoulders, patching, laying pipe and paving driveways and entrances. Operates the road patching machine which is used for paving, patching repairs to base and pavement on roads, driveways, crossovers, turn lanes, parking areas, and bridge approaches. Maintains weekly and monthly reports, time sheets and cost records; recommends personnel actions including promotions, transfers and disciplinary measures; rates employee yearly according to the Employee Performance Management System. Supervises and ensures a safe work zone for maintenance crew, as in flagging operations, wearing of safety equipment,vehicle safety, or when working with hazardous material and waste. Supervises and coordinates crew in the removal of snow and ice from roadways and storm damage. Devises and implements schedule for work to be performed by maintenance crew. Performs other job related duties, including on call for after hour emergencies. Supervises the Pre-trip inspection of vehicles and ensures that noted deficiencies are documented and repaired.
