Requirements:

A high school diploma and six and one-half (6.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Supervises a crew in grading of ditches and reshaping shoulders including cleaning out pipe,outfall and berm ditches. Constructs driveway entrances including grading of ditches, laying pipe and paving of driveways. Acts as an "On Call" Foreman on a routing basis. During this week period they must be available to respond to emergency situations 24 hours a day. May be contacted by patrol, county, and city dispatchers when emergencies arise anywhere within the
county. Must respond immediately, assess the situation and contact maintenance personnel required to remedy the problem. This position must supervise these employees in the most difficult of situations in any type of maintenance work from replacing a stop sign to major bridge repairs using all types of heavy equipment. Supervises a crew in all aspects of asphalt roadway repairs. Enters crew activities into (HMMS) Highway Maintenance Management System daily.
Supervises and ensures a safe work zone for maintenance crew, as in flagging operations, wearing of safety equipment, vehicle safety or when working hazardous material and waste. Supervises a crew of maintenance personnel during snow and ice and hazardous weather conditions. Inspects assigned areas of roadways, advises of hazardous conditions and directs personnel in clearing and sanding operations. Maintains equipment and makes repairs in the field in order to obtain maximum production from personnel and equipment. Performs other various
duties as requested. Investigates work requests and schedules the necessary work.
