Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of responsible experience in counseling, college admissions, programming, student services, marketing, or related area is required. Strong communication, computer and public speaking skills. Master’s degree is preferred. Experience with tutoring and academic support programs at a college level preferred. Must have strong skills in providing excellent customer service and demonstrate strong ethics. A valid driver's license and safe driving history.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have understanding of academic programs and student academic support services. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students and faculty. Must be able to plan, organize, and adapt methods and techniques to meet the needs of students. Must have ability to maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and parents. Ability to operate a personal computer and various software packages including Microsoft Office.

 

Job Description:

Supervises and coordinates the Peer Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction Program including teaching the tutor training class (ASC 290), maintaining reports and records for the program, and raising awareness by marketing the services provided by the Academic Success Center. Supervises approximately eighty student tutors and fifteen Supplemental Instruction leaders. Advises continuing, transfer, and returning students using strategic planning to increase retention and enhance a student's academic goals. Additional teaching opportunities may also be available.

 

Schedule:
8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday;
Varied work schedule to include evenings and weekends.
