Water & Sewer Crewmember ?D?

Under regular supervision, successful applicant will be engaged in training to learn, understand and demonstrate the requirements that are necessary for the effective and efficient operation of backhoes, trenchers, front-end loaders, boom trucks, dump truck, jet-vac trucks, boring machines, tapping machines, meters, fire hydrants, or similar equipment, material, and supplies during the construction, operation, and/or repair of the water distribution and sewer collection systems. Applicants must be able to use a variety of tools, operate heavy equipment and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks which include but are not limited to fine motor skills, exertion of force up to 100 pounds, lifting, reaching, bending, squatting, and working in extreme temperatures and in confined spaces. Assists with the installation, maintenance, and service of water and sewer taps. Assists with construction, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer lines and appurtenances. Assists with the installation, maintenance, repair, and flushing of fire hydrants. Performs ground maintenance in and around work sites and utility shop. Removes or replenishes worksite materials; restocks trucks. Checks fluid levels, lights, tire pressure, etc.; performs other required preventative maintenance on water/sewer vehicles and equipment as required.
Remains subject to stand-by duty and twenty-four hour call-out. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as Utility work orders, Finance work orders, and verbal information. Prepares and/or processes various records and reports such as utility work orders and Finance work orders. Refers to safety manual, MSDS, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc. Operates a variety of equipment and machinery such as backhoe, commercial dump truck, non-commercial dump truck, sewer cleaner, hydraulic pumps, saws, jackhammer, etc.
