One-day workshop that mixes classroom and hands-on activity throughout the day to teach or refresh knowledge of effectively leading/facilitating a Kaizen event. A simple simulation allows participants to experience Kaizen methodology first-hand. This makes for an informative, interesting day of training. We begin the day with developing a Kaizen Charter, the tool that sets the stage for the Kaizen and better ensures that all concerned are on the same page in terms of improvement targets and associated metrics. Participants learn the do's and don'ts associated with prepping and leading a Kaizen team. The SCMEP instructor draws upon their extensive lean experience to relate the Kaizen approach. Workshop topics covered: -Definition of Lean, value-added, non-value added, 8 wastes -Purpose of Kaizen and how Kaizen fits with Continuous Improvement philosophy -Kaizen process overview -Kaizen Charter, the "true north" of the Kaizen event, Structure, Team, Goals and Metrics -Roles and Responsibilities of Kaizen Facilitator, Co-Leader, Team Members -Prepping and planning a Kaizen event -Approach and tools used in conducting the Kaizen event -The Kaizen team report-out -Documenting/Advertising the Kaizen results in the organization
