Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma + 2 yrs work experience in law enforcement. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified by the SCCJA in accordance with state law 23-23-40 or be willing and able to attend the SCCJA to obtain certification as a Class I LEO. Knowledge of proper law enforcement officer behavior and role. Knowledge of modern law enforcement techniques and procedures. Knowledge of how to collect and preserve evidence.
Knowledge of the legal rights of both suspects and law enforcement personnel. Knowledge of the laws one is responsible for enforcing.
Knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of other law enforcement agencies. Skill in the operation of law enforcement vehicles, weapons and communications equipment.
Ability to correctly evaluate situations and make good decisions.
Ability to deal firmly, yet tactfully, with the general public.

Job Description:

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: In this challenging role, you will support the Greenville Technical College Police Department. Duties may include any or all of the following:
-Patrol GTC campuses, student housing, and properties on foot and in a vehicle. Issue
summons. Operate police radio and other related equipment.
-Secure buildings and equipment and complete daily activity reports.
-Answer all calls for service, investigate criminal offenses, complete traffic collision reports, criminal reports, and administrative reports. Sign arrest warrants and make criminal arrests.
-Maintain Class I certification via required certification training. Successfully complete annual firearms qualifications and other applicable training.
-Complete building checks for all campuses, student housing, and other GTC properties.
-Provide student, faculty/staff, and visitor escorts, as requested. Pick up money deposits for Dental and CDC and deliver deposits to the Business Office.
-Perform other duties as directed by PD supervisor or other authority figure.
-Assist safety officers with duties such as parking enforcement, making student picture IDs, issuing parking decals, and other duties as required.
