Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related field + 2 yrs work experience in law enforcement, to include 1 yr in a supervisor capacity; or Associate's degree + 4 yrs work experience in law enforcement to include 1 yr in a supervisor capacity PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -Must possess or obtain a valid SC Driver's License. -Must be certified by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in accordance with SC Code of Laws 23-23-40 or be able to obtain academy
certification.
-Successful applicant must be able to obtain commission as a State Constable and meet requirements of department and state background
qualifications.
-Prefer administrative and/or operations experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in a mid-level supervisor position or above.
*Corrections, security, armed security, or general military experience does not suffice as equivalent law enforcement experience for this
position

Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY
Serve as Captain of the Greenville Technical College Police Department and act as Chief of Police during the absence/leave of the Chief. The
responsibilities of this position include planning, budgeting, supervision of employees, and oversight of operations of the agency.
Responsibilities are crucial to the development of department and safety of the College. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES In this challenging role, you will support the Campus Police department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following: -Assist Chief of Police in planning, directing, and coordinating law enforcement and security activities for GTC Police Department. In absence of Chief of Police, serves as Chief Law Enforcement Officer. Serves as Class I Police Officer and may be required to perform duties of a sworn law enforcement officer in accordance with SC Code of Laws -Assess employee performance and develops planning for training, policies, and compliance with SC Administrative Guidelines, GTC Policies/Procedures, State Technical College Guidelines, and SC Code of Laws for all departmental personnel -Responsible for daily administrative duties for operations, as well as administration of agency. Leads and directs subordinate personnel. This includes reviewing and ensuring compliance of reports, documents, scheduling, equipment, and ensuring safety of campus community. Assists Chief of Police and Human Resources with screening, processing, and hiring of applicants for potential employment with the agency -Responsible for management of departmental fiscal resources, allocations of personnel/resources during daily operations, as well as exigent circumstances. Serves as departmental member of various teams/committees including: Emergency Planning Committee, Behavioral Intervention Team, and administrative disciplinary hearings -Any other duties and assignments as directed by the Chief of Police or VP Finance/Public Safety Greenville Technical College is one of the largest institutions of higher learning in South Carolina.
