ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and five (5) years of related experience.

Under general supervision handles complex administrative duties and office procedures. Performs a variety of complex administrative support or technical support duties. Must have knowledge of grammatical rules, spelling, language usage and clerical format. Must have knowledge of office policies, practices and procedures. Must have working knowledge of the operation of office equipment and machines. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. Must have excellent computer skills and must develop effective working relationships with other staff members.

The selected employee works independently and cautiously performing semi-routine and different duties requiring good judgment. Must be able to work under general supervision while performing complex administrative duties for the agency.

Job Description:

ONLY CURRENT DPS EMPLOYEES WILL BE CONSIDERED
 

Under general supervision, performs complex administrative and secretarial duties for Troop Five Patrol Headquarters. Assists Troop Five Headquarter's staff with the general operation of all administrative activities.

Reviews incoming documents for accuracy. Ensures documents are routed to appropriate department, agency or personnel within specified timelines. Ensures accuracy of submitted official document; daily reports, monthly reports and corrected tickets. Checks court reports for accuracy/files troop copy/forwards DMV copy to Columbia. Maintains required data storage for prompt retrieval.

Types reclassifications, job descriptions, and merit ratings with accuracy. Forwards a copy to Post Supervisor. Files a copy in Troop Headquarters and forwards to Columbia. Verifies SCEIS information submitted by Troop Five personnel.

Assists with insurance benefit inquires. Attends Benefits meetings and advises all employees of changes and assist them with necessary changes. Provides employees with necessary paperwork and forwards the information to Human Resources within the allotted time frame. Storing/filing Troop Five Personnel benefits following DPS guidelines.

Assists with general office and administrative tasks when necessary.

Screens and refers telephone calls to appropriate personnel. Provides information and assistance to the general public by telephone and office visits.

Performs the duties of the Administrative Assistant in their absence. Performs other related duties as necessary.

Performs other required duties.
