Requirements:

Education ? Equivalent to a Bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in computer science, information management, business or public administration, or a related field of study. A Master?s degree is highly desirable.
Experience ? Career experience must be at the senior level of an organization with substantial experience managing staff, projects, and budgets. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as applied in utility, industrial, and municipal government environments is desired. Must possess a valid State driver?s license at time of hire.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate in this position will be a positive influence on day-to-day operations, have a ?can-do? attitude, and be comfortable with a hands-on approach to all aspects of the City of Newberry Utilities? procedures from the high levels of in-home comforts to billing services. The ideal candidate will have a natural interest in mentoring and guiding staff, having patience to not only explain strategy and procedures but also can explain how to effectively and efficiently achieve established technology goals with a pro-active approach versus a reactive response. The ideal candidate will have exceptional management, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a hands-on approach to addressing a broad range of information technology challenges and opportunities
The successful candidate will be a strategic and innovative thinker with a keen understanding and ability to strategically balance utility-wide infrastructure and technology needs with the individual priorities and concerns for the operation of electric and water utility systems. Keeping abreast of changing technology and proactively appraising Utility management and staff of beneficial and prudent technological advancements will also be critical. In addition, the Assistant Utilities Director - OT/IT must be recognized as having the ability to provide the Operational Technology needs of the City with exceptional leadership, outstanding management and effective communications skills.
The Assistant Utilities Director will manage and support the City?s Network Administration to include but not limited to the Help Desk, SCADA, Systems, Smart Grid, will provide oversight and management of a network with approximately 22 switches, 20 servers, 200 nodes, 75 wireless access points, 100 IP cameras, and approx. 45 miles of fiber optic network and will supervise staff and support the City?s Utilities Director and utility customer base.
