A high school diploma and four (4) years of experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
Acts as survey party chief. Surveys lines and grade verification. Supervises geodetic personnel while performing horizontal and vertical surveys. Operates surveying instruments in the absence of instrument man. Computes horizontal and vertical curves. Checks and verifies all offsets and grades associated with all phases of construction. Generates and maintains computer models for assigned projects. Verifies reference points provided by pre-construction surveys. Creates additional horizontal and vertical controls prior to and throughout the construction process.Maintains accurate and legible field notes for all surveys performed. Trains as an inspector on certain construction projects. Trains in the inspection of curb and gutter, sidewalk, and other concrete roadway structures. Trains in the placement of embankment material, stone bases and storm drain. Trains in the placement of asphalt on the roadway and the inspection of miscellaneous items. Trains in the required sampling and testing of materials during the inspection process. Maintains project records. Enters and reviews all daily work reports on assigned projects. Performs equal employment opportunity and wage regulation interviews.Responsible for a portion of project correspondence with Employment Opportunity and Wage Regulation interviews. Responsible for a portion of project correspondence with Department and contractor personnel. Performs general office duties. Assists in the preparation of monthly construction estimates and final plans.
