WestRock Charleston is hosting co-ops at our pulp and paper mill in Charleston, SC. Our goal is to place dynamic and driven students in our business to manage projects which support strategic goals, while learning about the real business world and gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Job Description:
The Co-Op Student is responsible for assisting with and leading the successful completion of engineering projects. Projects can be related to process improvements, mechanical, electrical and civil reliability improvements, health/safety/environmental improvements and maintenance improvements. As the student gains increased knowledge and experience, he/she will become responsible for completing independent projects. Project Management includes defining scope with customer, written and detailed justifications for project approval, budget creation, safe plans, execution and tracking of the project. Activities include managing contractors for execution of work; safety training, planning and auditing; working with maintenance for setting up BOMs and PMs; and working with production to ensure new equipment has operator training and commissioning, all by working with a diverse team.
Through this opportunity, the Co-op Student will apply concepts learned in engineering classes to real world experience. Co-ops will develop an understanding of an Engineer’s role in an industrial setting and the general operations of a manufacturing facility. They expand their technical skills, with industrial equipment and process knowledge.
