Requirements:

Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree is required. A Veteran of one of the branches of the armed services is required. Professional work experience, preferably in a recruiting, counseling, advising, or mentoring role. Working knowledge of veteran programs and services. A valid driver's license and safe driving history are required. Must have strong skills in providing excellent customer service and demonstrate strong ethics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong public speaking skills. Good interpersonal skills and relationships with all constituents. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multitask. Attention to deadlines and details. Ability to learn Banner and Recruiter systems. Must have ability to lift materials up to 45 pounds

Job Description:

The Director of Military and Veteran Services takes leadership responsibility for the outreach, recruitment, and enrollment of veteran/veteran dependents and service member applicants related to engagement, recognition, and retention. Develops and implements a comprehensive outreach recruitment strategy that increases interest, applications, and enrollment from veteran/veteran dependents and service member applicants. Travels extensively recruiting students to Lander University from the National Guard, Army Reserve Units, and other military bases. Cultivates relationships and manages ongoing communication including email, print and other media. Counsels prospective applicants on the admissions process and academic opportunities with attention to the unique regulatory requirements of veteran/veteran dependents. Assist with freshman and transfer initiatives. Assists with job fairs and other recruiting events for service member/veteran dependents admission. Directly involved in recruiting Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) to the university. Attends visitation events. Represents the veteran population on issues that impact admissions and other policies and practices that may impact student retention and enrollment. Serve as advisor to the campus veterans, including awareness, recognition events, and retention efforts to support this population. Assist with work study programs and internships. 

Schedule:
University Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday
Position Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week. To include some nights and weekends
