Requirements:

Gas Engineering Specialist I - Must have at least two years of related technical experience along with a working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Adobe Pro. Also, must have a valid driver?s license with a good driving record.

Gas Engineering Specialist II - Must have all qualifications required for a Gas Engineering Specialist I. Must have technical knowledge acquired by four years of experience as a Gas Engineering Specialist I or equivalent work experience.

Gas Engineering Specialist III - All qualifications for a Gas Engineering Specialist II, as well as four years of experience as an Engineering Specialist II or equivalent work experience.

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge and skills:
? Knowledge of ArcGIS and familiarity with integrity and MAOP requirements to support pipeline records capture, archiving, and retrieval.
? Knowledge of pipeline regulations and industry standards for transmission pipeline design, materials/components, construction, coatings, welding, hydrostatic testing, commissioning of pipelines, etc.
? Project & construction management experience for large pipeline projects (sub-contractor coordination, right of way acquisition & landowner communication, material management, contract management, as-built drawings, surveying, etc.)
? Large pipeline project inspection experience (specifying inspection requirements, securing inspection resources, scheduling, leading teams, etc.)
? Knowledge of procurement practices for large pipeline projects (bid processes, purchase order management, contract management, etc.)

Job Description:

SCANA?s Gas Services organization is seeking candidates for an Engineering Specialist position to provide natural gas transmission related engineering services to SCANA?s gas distribution business units, PSNC Energy (PSNC) in NC and South Carolina Electric and Gas (SCE&G) in SC. The position is located at the SCANA headquarters in Cayce, SC.

The Transmission Engineering Services Department provides engineering services to the SCANA gas distribution business units in the following areas: natural gas project engineering (including engineering, design, and construction); natural gas engineering integrity (including managing integrity related inspections on transmission pipelines, follow-up work, and supporting field and office staff to ensure pipeline safety and regulatory compliance); and operating & maintaining SCANA?s three liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants.

This position primarily supports the natural gas transmission project engineering team. More specifically, this work involves the following types of activities:

? assisting engineers in the planning, coordination, design, and management of new construction, repair, and maintenance projects for transmission and distribution pipelines
? visiting job sites, providing cost estimates, and creating various permits and work orders
? performing technical calculations and load studies
? completing detailed and accurate records and reports used for inspection
? coordinating and scheduling construction activities between project engineering and construction inspection to ensure quality and timeliness
? coordinating the collection of as built information and ensuring project records are complete and accurate
? preparing and submitting project records to the GIS department and corporate records and ensure project close out is complete

This position may also be called on periodically to support SCANA?s engineering and operations teams in other projects. Travel to various SCANA locations and some overnight stays are required.
Candidates will be evaluated based upon education, training, and experience. A fully functional candidate will be fully knowledgeable of all regulatory requirements, corporate design standards, and operations & maintenance procedures to ensure safety and compliance. Candidates should also be available for emergency responses as needed.
