Requirements:

Education/Training: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Associate degree (technical) preferred.
  • Can demonstrate basic math, reading and mechanical skills through assessment testing.  Able to read, interpret and follow all work instructions.  Able to read Part Prints.
  • Classroom instruction or OJT in Hazardous Waste Management Procedures (including contingency plan implementation). Training to be completed within six months of hire date or assignment to this position.  Must take part in an annual review of the hazardous waste management procedure training.  Must not work unsupervised around hazardous waste until the completion of hazardous waste management procedures.

 

Experience:

  • Two years applicable industrial manufacturing experience.

Job Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to safely set-up, operate and trouble-shoot the Heat Treat process. Maintains traceability of material, determines appropriate recipe or practice for parts being processed, and monitors solution, quench, and continuous age processes.  Cross-trained on set-up, operation and basic trouble-shooting of Forge Cell and related equipment and backfills as necessary. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Safely Operate Lift Truck & Overhead Crane.

  • Perform Etch/Lube Operation.

  • Perform Etch/Lube Start-up & Shutdown Procedure.

  • Determine Lube, Etch, & Wash Recipes & Tumble Load Amounts.

  • Hazardous Waste – Handling & Disposal of Caustic and Nitric Sludge

  • Test & Charge Chemical/Wash Tanks.

  • Discharge Chemical/Wash Tanks.

  • Safely Operate Tubar Dumper.

  • Identify Confined Spaces and follow confined Space Entry Policy.

  • Disposition deviations & non-conformances in Lube & Etch product or process.

  • Stage & Track material through Heat Treat Process.

  • Determine heat Treat Product Specifications.

  • Monitor Heat Treat Process.

  • Troubleshoot and correct quality issues caused by process discrepancies.

  • Determine appropriate recipes per part type and maintain parameters for all parts while changing recipes.

  • Operate Batch Age Furnace Process.

  • Perform Heat Treat Start-up Procedure.

  • Perform Brinell Hardness Test Procedure.

  • Perform Electrical Conductivity Test.

  • Safely operate Band saw, Milling Machine, Lab Lathe.

  • Prepare Round and Flat Tensile Specimen

  • Perform Tensile Test & Interpret & Document Results

  • Disposition deviations & non-conformances in product or process.

  • Perform Heat Treat Shutdown Procedure.

  • All other duties as assigned.
