Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences with one or more years experience working with at-risk youth in an outdoor setting. Must have knowledge of basic learning principles, outdoor experiential education, group dynamics and group therapy. Skill in oral and written communication including observing, recording and describing behavior. Skill in performing outdoor living activities such as camping, hiking and canoeing. Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations, to maintain emotional control under stress, to inspire curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, live in an outdoor environment under conditions of physical exertion.
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in the provisions of childcare and counseling to a group of behaviorally troubled children in a twenty-four hour a day, year round therapeutic wilderness camping program.
