Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related area and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Additional Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related area and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree on a year for year basis and two (2) years of applied work experience in computer system development and modification; or an Associate's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and four (4) years of applied work experience in computer system development and modification with an acceptable approval by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR).

The employee must have applied work experience with C#, ASP.NET, T-SQL, and Classic ASP. The employee must have ability to work effectively with users, external vendors, and other IT personnel. The employee must possess good written and verbal communication skills, good organizational skills, and good analytical skills.

The employee is expected to be able to work with only general supervision. The employee will be expected to work within established guidelines and adhere to established standards and conventions for analysis, programming, and documentation. The employee is expected to regularly provide project plans and status reports to management for review and approval.

The employee will be expected to sit and work from a computer for approximately 75% of the time. The employee could expect to work after normal hours 10% of the time.

Job Description:

THIS IS A TEMPORARY FULL-TIME  POSITION


The purpose of this position is to maintain and support the current Grants Management Information System (GMIS) application used by the Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs within the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. In addition, the position will work with users and vendors in the transition to a new Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) application that will replace the existing GMIS application.

Proactively performs maintenance on the existing GMIS application. Responds to end-user requests for support.

Serves as program/project lead for GMIS migration to a new COTS replacement. Will interact with end-users, Office of Information Technology (OIT) staff, and external vendor personnel during the migration process.

Keeps management apprised of GMIS status and the transition t a new COTS replacement. Serves as a technical resource for other members of the IT staff. Performs other related duties as required.
