Requires knowledge of mechanical principals, job layout and precision measuring procedures, setups, tooling applications, operating methods and machining characteristics of materials; experience with electrical, electronics, hydraulics, presses, CNC equipment, lasers, paint lines, and weld cells, including robotic.
Install, repair, rebuild and otherwise maintain heavy duty and highly complicated precision machine tools and equipment requiring a broad knowledge of mechanics, machine design, machining practices and techniques; Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties; effect repairs and adjustments, whether temporarily to keep machine in production, or permanently if required and feasible; Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismounting, inspection, machining, and/ or replacement of purchased parts;Lay out repair parts; set up and operate machine tools to machine parts, frequently improvising standard machine, and tooling and calibrate measuring devices and moving parts, adjusting and feeding mechanisms; Work from machine design drawings, specifications and handbook formulas; Use scales, squares, micrometers, calipers, indicators, jo- blocks, levels, venires, sine bars, and parallels, etc.; Install and wire control panels, distribution centers and lead-in circuits, machine tool controls and switches, miscellaneous control and timing devices, lighting systems, etc., in accordance with specifications, schematic drawings and / or detailed instructions; Diagnose, isolate and repair electrical troubles to include largely the replacement and adjustment of components, integral unit boards, monitors, control switches, standard devices, and programming on PLC controllers.
