A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of work experience that involved the
independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment, or an approved
acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. Necessary Special
Requirement: This position requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six
(6) months of placement in the position.
Must be able to work in uncomfortable positions for a long period of time. Must be able to withstand
bending , reaching, stretching , climbing, stooping, crouching, standing, sitting, lying and lifting. Must be
able to work inside or outside, which includes inclement weather, noise, dirt, oil and grease on a daily
basis. 80% of the technicians work requires strength in removing and installing heavy items.
Reads and interprets technical manuals, charts, and parts manuals to plan work and select replacement
parts. Troubleshoots repairs and overhaul gasoline and diesel engines. Repairs and rebuilds automatic and
manual transmissions in CDL trucks and all heavy equipment. Repairs differentials, PTO's, power steerin g
units, clutches , hydraulic brakes, forklifts, jacks, and performs chassis work. Uses gas and elctric
welding/cutting to repair worn and broken equipment. Manufactures broken or lost pieces. Manufactures
special equipment and installs truck bodies. repairs trailers and performs maintenance on all equipment.
Check, adjust, and repair air brakes and components. Rebuilds hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, values
and complete systems. Repairs small engines, generators , air compressors, and steam cleaners.
Troubleshoots electrical equipment and performs other related duties as may be required to accomplish
the Equipment Depot's mission.
