South Carolina Electric and Gas’ Jasper Generating Station is seeking a Plant Analyst.

 

Responsibilities

A Plant Analyst is responsible for:

Collecting samples of plant processes that include water treatment, condensate, feedwater, cooling towers and wastewater.

Performing chemical analyses of plant processes and providing direction for control and adjustment of process chemistry.

Performing analyses of plant water, cooling water, and wastewater, to ensure compliance with the requirements of the plant’s environmental permits. Providing guidance to plant personnel in matters of chemistry such as material safety and chemical spill response.

Maintaining/calibrating in-line chemistry analyzers.

Operating an ultra-pure demineralized water system.

Occasional overtime/call outs and plant start-ups.

Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as directed by the Environmental Supervisor in support of facility operations.

Job Description:

Qualifications

Minimum education requirement for all levels is a High School Diploma from a high school accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or one of the entities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED.

 

Additional requirements for each level are as follows:

Jr. Plant Analyst

Experience:  0-2 years’ work experience in chemistry or biology.

Credentials:  None required.

 

Associate Plant Analyst

Experience: Three (3) years of work experience related to the job responsibilities described in this posting.

Credentials:  SCDLLR Grade D Physical/Chemical License

 

Plant Analyst

Experience:   Five (5) years of Power Plant work experience related to the job responsibilities described in this posting.

 

Candidates who possess an advanced degree will be evaluated for level of placement based on their level of placement based on their level of education, years of experience, relevancy of experience to the responsibilities described in this posting, and credentials.

 

Other Information

The successful candidate must be able to work in chemical protective gear including breathing apparatus and maintain annual respirator qualification.

Must be able to work in an industrial environment that can be hot, cold, noisy, and dirty.

Must be able to complete all necessary training and must be able to obtain certifications and licenses as that are required of the position.

The job is physically demanding, and the successful candidate must be in good physical condition, able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and walk stairs.

The successful candidate must be mechanically inclined and willing and able to respond to emergency callouts and may occasionally work weekends and holidays.

Candidates must possess strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft applications and other related software and good communication and organizational skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus are essential.

Selected candidate will interact with operations and maintenance personnel within the plant and with individuals from various departments elsewhere in the company.
