Requirements:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diploma, advanced courses in chemistry, engineering concepts, and mathematics.
2. Minimum five (5) years chemical processing experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Knowledge and understanding of QC tests as pertaining to production standards.
2. Ability to function in a team environment, also function independently at times.
3. Ability to read and comprehend operating instructions, follow strict protocol.
4. Proficiency in operating computer applications for reporting and data entry purposes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Generally, 5% of time at desk / 95% in office and plant areas, walking and standing.
2. Able to lift at least 30 pounds.
3. Must be able to climb stairs and walk around the plant site. Must be able to bend.
4. No known sustained repetitive activities.

Job Description:

Summary
This position reports to the Shift Supervisor. The function of this position is to support the running of production batches by monitoring the correct gauges and controllers, and following operating instructions and production procedures. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required for this position.

Essential Job Tasks
1. Produce high quality chemical batches in a manufacturing environment using operating instructions and standard operating procedures.
2. Operate equipment, instruments, and forklifts safely.
3. Enter data using a computer to update batch status and fill out work orders as needed.
4. Provide textile operator training and support as required.
5. Assist in the development of skill blocks and to ensure operators are fully trained prior to qualification.
6. Complete all paperwork as required.
7. Report all spills, malfunctioning equipment, and procedure variance to the shift supervisor immediately.
8. Complete all production skill blocks as required by the company in a timely manner.
9. Become proficient in all areas of production, including drumming, batch making, cleaning and housekeeping, required paperwork, internal and external training as required by the company.
10. Understand and follow all safety rules, including LOTO, wear required safety equipment, perform work using supplied breathing aid and/or dust masks, wear a protective tyvex suite when required.
11. Work with management as needed to improve batch quality, identify causes of failure in processes, safety concerns, and environmental concerns.
12. Become a member and participate in KYT groups, QC Circle teams, process improvement teams, and efficiency improvement teams.
13. Perform all other work as necessary to help meet the department goals.

ISO Duties
1. Follow all ISO procedures.

Other Duties
1. Employee may perform other duties as assigned.

Safety
1. Understand and follow all safety rules.
2. Ensure all safety rules are followed by self and employees being supervised.
3. Communicate safety needs (PPE or equipment changes) to shift supervisor.
4. Keep workplace clean and organized.
5. Help with additional clean-up as required.
6. Communicate all spills promptly to supervision.
7. Operate environmental equipment directly tied to manufacturing process.

Schedule:
This position is second shift, which means 2:30 p.m. ? 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some weekend overtime may be required, but this happens very infrequently.
