QA Lab Technician needed for a long term contract and could be contract to hire position.
Need at least two years of experience in an industrial lab environment or two year technical degree in laboratory technology or science related field. Candidate must be self motivated and able to work in a team based environment with minimal supervision. Candidate must have competent computer skills to enable them to operate lab equipment/support systems (LIMS) and basic statistical process control knowledge. Candidate must have the ability to interpret and understand detailed written instructions/methods and possess good written and oral communication skills. General Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide testing support for the manufacturing facilities, product development and as needed at the plant in Rock Hill
2. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory
3. Adhere to all department/plant safety standards, practices, and programs.
4. Troubleshoot test equipment problems/identify root cause/corrective actions, and know who to ask for assistance if needed
5. Utilize SPC to analyze control sample data and aid in troubleshooting testing problems to ensure accuracy of test results.
6. Adhere to and understand established Fibers Test Methods and Standard Operating Procedures when performing tests/tasks unless authorized by Quality Manager or designee
7. Have a good technical understanding of lab testing equipment such as tensile testing equipment, gas chromatography, Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzer, Accelerated Solvent Extractor (ASE) and other miscellaneous test equipment.
8. Notify appropriate personnel whenever testing issues occur which prevent internal customers from receiving their data in a timely manner (Lab Technical Support, QA Manager, manufacturing personnel)
9. Acquire training as needed to support testing needs for plant (LIMS, computers, new/revised testing methods, new lab equipment, upgrade of lab skills, etc.)
10. Maintain lab equipment by performing identified preventative maintenance, calibrations, and cleaning of equipment
11. Assures documentation is accurate and up-to-date (equipment logs, test work sheets, LIMS, etc.)
12. Other duties may be assigned by management
Operators must not have any limitations which would interfere with their ability to perform the essential functions of their job and must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment while preforming some of their tasks. They are also expected to actively participate in the plant wide S.A.F.E. program.
