Wages/Salary: Benefits Free furnished housing on the grounds of Longwood Gardens. Further details of the houses are below. This is a taxable benefit; all utilities are included except cable television. Students can purchase cable television and pay for it individually if desired. All houses on The Row have central air conditioning. Interns receive a taxable stipend of $11.33 per hour, with a typical work week of 40 hours. Weekly learning activities, including field trips, hands-on workshops, and lectures.
Rotational Summer Internship in Public Horticulture offers students the opportunity to experience outdoor display, conservatory management and greenhouse production.
Open only to current sophomores and juniors enrolled in a two- or four-year college or university program in horticulture or a related field, the Rotational Summer Internship in Public Horticulture introduces students to the diversity of career opportunities available in public horticulture through an internship emphasizing Display Horticulture. This internship will engage students in the day-to-day operations of an intensively managed horticultural display through monthly rotations in Conservatory Management, Outdoor Display, and Greenhouse Production. Other program features and student responsibilities include: 10- or 12-week program, dependent upon individual student availability; opportunity to enroll in Continuing Education courses; weekly learning activities, including field trips, hands-on workshops, and lectures. The internship is ideal for those students interested in maintenance, design, and visitor interaction within a public display garden.
This is a 3-month internship only. Apply by February 1 for a spring start.
