A 10th grade education and two and one-half (2.5) years of related trades experience; or an
approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid
Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License within six (6) months of placement in the position.
However, applicants without a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License will be considered if
no qualified applicants with a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License are available.
Trains in the operations of a backhoe in cleaning ditches and placing pipe. Operates tandem
ten-wheel dump truck, 5 to 10 yard dump truck, and flatbed for hauling materials including
asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction materials and debris. Flags traffic during
road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment. Trains in
the operation of a small motor grader in grading, machining shoulders, spreading and leveling
materials in order to insure proper drainage of roadway. Performs duties using manual labor, in
such maintenance task as clearing of right-of-ways, cleaning drainage ditches, repairing
shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, repairing bridges, paving driveways, and
laying sideline/cross line pipe. Operates standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and
sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Operates self-propelled steelwheel and pneumatic rollers, to compact and solidify fill material. Operates chain saw in the emoval of trees from right-of-way. Performs other related duties as required.
