A high school diploma and six and one-half (6.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Supervises county sign erection crew. Replaces damaged signs and posts due to traffic accidents or vandalism and removes debris from roadways. Produces accurate daily records of work performed and materials used and enters into Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS). Maintains and accounts for all signs within the McCormick County sign room. Performs monthly inventories and accounts for all signs in HMMS. Inspects roadways for deficiencies in shoulders, signs, roadway surface, vegetation and drainage during routine day and night inspections throughout the year. Supervises crew in placement and installation of pavement markings such as stop bars, turn arrows, and railroad crossings. Supervises maintenance personnel in setup and signing of detours in emergency situations. Erects barricades, traffic control devices, and lights. Supervises the preventative maintenance of equipment to ensure routines maintenance schedule is followed and to monitor equipment use and wear to prolong equipment life. Supervises and coordinates crew in the removal of snow and ice from roadways and storm damage. Removes dead animals and debris from SCDOT roadway and right-of-way. Supervises a crew of skilled and semi skilled Trades Specialists involved in a variety of maintenance activities to maintain and preserve State maintained roads and bridges in McCormick County. Conducts routine safety meetings. Performs other duties as assigned by Resident Maintenance Engineer and Resident Maintenance Foreman. Performs annual Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) evaluations on subordinate employees. Supervises and instructs the First Aid/CPR training program for McCormick Maintenance.
