Requirements:

A high school diploma and four and one-half (4.5) years of related trades experience; or an
approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A"
Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However,
applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified
applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available

Job Description:

Supervises and inspects work including ditching, machining shoulders, patching, laying pipe and paving driveways and entrances. Maintains weekly and monthly reports, time sheets and cost records; recommends personnel actions including promotions, transfers and disciplinary
measures; rates employee yearly according to the Employee Performance Management System. Supervises and ensures a safe work zone for maintenance crew, as in flagging
operations, wearing of safety equipment, vehicle safety, or when working with hazardous materials and waste. Supervises a maintenance crew cutting right-of-ways on highway and around bridges. Inspects roadways for deficiencies in shoulders, roadway surface, vegetation,
and drainage during day and night inspections performed throughout the year. Supervises crew of maintenance workers in digging out and backfilling bad areas in roadways in preparation for resurfacing and skimpatching. Supervises and coordinates crew in the removal of snow and ice from roadways and storm damage. Performs other job related duties, including on call for after hour emergencies. Evaluates areas for herbicide to be applied throughout the county. Recommends type and amount of herbicides to be purchased to the Resident Maintenance
Engineer and directs the spraying of herbicide within the county. Supervises the preventive maintenance of equipment use and wear to prolong equipment life. Devises and implements schedule for work to be performed by maintenance crew.
