Wages/Salary: State Salary Range: $41,481.00 - 61,975 Annually

Requirements:

A high school diploma and seven and one-half years (7.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer (RME) in scheduling and supervising work of foremen and maintenance crews on a daily basis in areas of asphalt repairs, drainage maintenance, bridge maintenance, right-of-way management and maintenance of roadside appurtenances. Investigates work requests and complaints from the general public, local officials or SCDOT personnel. Recommends corrective action and ensures completion in a timely manner. Communicates with public, local officials, and administrators concerning work requests and work to be performed. Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer in planning and organizing maintenance work to accomplish daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly goals. Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer with enforcement of current department policies and assists with training of maintenance crews in safety and maintenance functions to maintain a high level of competence among crew members. Reviews and completes data entry into Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS), HMMS reports and yearly Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) evaluations of maintenance foreman. Conducts monthly foremen meeting. Conducts safety and other meetings in conjunction with the RME. Performs related duties as needed and assigned.
