EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience in in a manufacturing plant, Utilities experience preferred.
-
Associate degree, military training, and/or related experience preferred.
-
Knowledgeable of the site’s extensive and varied utility systems.
-
Must be a person that has a grasp of how things work, and must possess an understanding of things mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic.
-
May be required to certify as South Carolina Class D PC Wastewater Operators and EPA Universal Refrigeration licensees.
-
Operation and minor maintenance of site central utilities systems. These include: Steam, SP Therminol, Compressed Air, Air Washers/HVAC, Chilled Water, Treated Water, Domestic Water, and Wastewater.

Specific Skills: Utilities Experience, Advanced Math Skills, Education beyond High School

Computer Skills: Windows, Word and Excel capable.

Experience with RO water system, boilers, and other utilities systems are desirable.
BASIC ASSESSMENT: SC WorkKeys Math, Reading and Locating with a score of 4 or higher.

Must work where the noise level requires hearing protection.

May be exposed to various hazards such as corrosive chemicals (acetic acid for autoclave acid boil), steam, molten polymer, equipment related dangers, etc.

Ability to push/pull buggies or carts up to 200 lbs.

Ability to lift/carry 25 lbs. or less.

The Operator in the Utilities Department is responsible for the assigned area of either the Shift Operations Team or the Day Operations Team. This position reports to the Front Line Leader of Power/Utilities. Specific duties in either assignment is outlined below.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

If assigned to a shift team, the team member will be one of a two team members assigned to one of the site's rotating shifts, A, B, C, or D. This assignment will rotate through two jobs:

Rover: Vaporizer control/operation, South Plant/ North Plant utilities response, nitrogen, condensate recovery, IF Area North Plant Fan Room, SP HVAC, NP and warehouse HVAC, NP air washers, NP chilled water return, NP condensate return, site utilities response cooling towers, operation/monitoring of process sewer basins

Powerhouse Inside: control/operation of systems inside Powerhouse, boilers, chillers, compressors, tank farm, equipment/systems in close proximity to Powerhouse , team timekeeper/OT
If assigned to the day team, the team member will be responsible for day-to-day operation and oversight of one of the following utilities operating areas:

Powerhouse: steam system, chiller system, water treatment, air compression/drying, related monthly reports, Therminol/Nitrogen and Water/Sewer monthly reports.

Support for Environmental and LDAR: site sewer systems (sanitary, storm, process), spill monitoring systems, minor repair/calibration of the preceding systems, assistance in repair and cleanup of area Therminol leaks.
-
Therminol: SP vaporizer system, Polymer building utilities, Therminol tanks, oil unloading, SP Area Therminol assistance, SP quench air, fill in for fire chief as needed, site air washer filter inventory, Therminol leak detection/reporting, SP air washers.

In each of the assignments, the Operator will be responsible for quickly troubleshooting problems/failures without outside assistance, react quickly to utility related failures and crises that may happen at any time and without warning.

Comply with all safety/health related policies and procedures, participate in company sponsored safety programs and activities, and report to management those conditions or actions by employees or others that might create a hazard to themselves or others in the plant. Reports any work-related injury or illness, no matter how minor, to their supervisor or lead.

Maintain housekeeping on assigned machines and in areas.

Perform minor maintenance tasks and assist maintenance when they are in the area.
-
Assist in machine start-ups and shutdowns.
-
Must be able to work call-ins, unscheduled hours, and overtime as needed.
