Piedmont Technical College is offering an exciting slate of summer programs. Get hands-on with our art, writing, and occupational therapy programs. For all the gamers out there, we’re offering lessons in coding, Minecraft and Roblox. 

A.I. Adventures (June 10-13)

Explore the world of artificial intelligence to design fully interactive games and experiences using cutting-edge technology. This program combines artificial intelligence with coding to create an unforgettable learning adventure. Students will construct machine learning models that use image and text recognition within block-based coding software to build a portfolio of projects. Student-created projects will be available on a password-protected website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Art Around the World (June 10-14)

Embark on an artistic adventure around the world in this 4-day camp. Campers will learn about artistic concepts and techniques from countries all over the world and use these techniques to create their own projects. They will also be introduced to artists from across the globe and their unique styles.

Make Your First Video Game (June 17-20)

In this camp, you will go well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2D game design classes and create an immersive 3D world. Students will learn the physics behind 3D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling the flow of gameplay, and storytelling. Student projects will be available on a password-protected website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Strings n Things (June 17-19)

Join Merrywood’s music teacher Kayla Beard in this fun and unique music-based summer camp! In this camp, children will each receive their own ukulele kit which they will assemble and decorate themselves. They will string the instrument, learn how to tune it, learn basic chords, and take it home with them to practice! Parents are invited to join us on the last day of camp upon pickup for a short performance.

Customize your own Minecraft world and mod the classic game in this one-of-a-kind class. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods. YouTube Content Creators (July 8-11)

Find your voice and leave your mark on the world! Whether you are six or sixteen, it's time to start a career as the next YouTube star. Explore the variety of content and personalities that exist on YouTube and how to find your own niche. Learn the Dos and Don’ts of the platform and how to practice good digital citizenship. Develop your on-camera presence, your own channel branding, and professional editing skills. Take home a plan for launching your own channel with the content created in class! Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
