A bachelor's degree in engineering and two (2) years of entry-level engineering work experience; or a bachelor's degree in engineering technology and two (2) years of entry-level engineering work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.

A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required.  

Job Description:

This position serves as Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer (ARME) for Newberry County. Manages and updates the Roadway Assets Inventory System by tracking the planning and progress of all ditching, herbicide, resurfacing, and marking programs for state maintained roads in Newberry County. Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer (RME) in the creation of plans and implementation of the Business Plan for the routine maintenance operations of Newberry County. Assists RME in researching data and providing technical assistance in preparing written reports for short and long range maintenance programs. Processes monthly reports for Haz-mat, OSHA, MS-4, and various other reports. Responsible for personnel matters including: EPMS reviews, PD generation and updates, disciplinary action policy, monthly safety meetings, and various other personnel procedures. Functions as public liaison by providing representation at various public meetings on an intermittent basis and handling public complaints. Conducts internal meetings such as safety, supervisor, crew and staffing meetings. Supervises all maintenance activities and communications when RME is absent and updates RME upon return. Supervises and coordinates emergency operations during inclement weather, snow/ice, or any related emergency. Performs other related duties as required.
